The opening ceremony will begin at 5:00 pm at the museum complex. We invite everyone to check out the improvements underway with the Pleasant Point School Project and look over the changes in the Historical Museum located in the historic Timken Santa Fe Depot.
Our Barbed Wire Museum Casino Night event will give participants an opportunity to experience a mixture of old-west and “New-West” games in a safe and fun environment.
Enjoy our Italian Buffet with free entertainment. Use your free “Barbed Bucks” to play the games and have fun while helping the museum. Cost of the meal is $10.00 including free entertainment (no charge to play the casino games.) At the end of the evening redeem your barbed bucks for a variety of items and prize baskets during the Prize Auction.
Join us for our spectacular Candlelight Banquet, an evening fit for royalty. Enjoy a gourmet meal by candlelight featuring the finest cuts of beef, fabulous trimmings, salad, and dessert.
To kick off the evening, you will enjoy special entertainment, live music, and more.
Following the banquet will be a short program, announcement of the splicing winners, Wireshow Awards Ceremony, and more.
Proceeds from the banquet will be used to further the educational mission of the museum.

This will be the 51st year for the World Champion Barbed Wire Splicing Contest™. The competition will be held on Saturday from 12:00pm until 2:00pm and is open to anyone.
Our newly renovated splicing unit is brought to you through the support of “Jake's Wire Tighteners.”
Prizes will be awarded in three catagories: Men's, Ladies', and Youth division. Rules and details are available here.
We will be hosting a kid's event on Saturday at 10:00am - Kid's will have the opportunity to create their own artistic masterpiece sponsored by “My Masterpiece” of Hays, Kansas. All supplies will be provided, there will be no cost for youth to participate. Adults are also welcome to participate, however, a small fee to cover supplies will apply.
Collector Trek - The Next Generation: On Saturday, May 7th at 10:30am, youth 17 and under will again have the opportunity to receive a “Collector’s Bundle” of common wires to trade or barter with participating veteran collectors during the show. Collectors will provide ideas on how to identify, mount and display their collections for entry and display in the Open Class Barbed Wire Categories at the Rush County Fair in August. The KBWCA will offer special premiums for winners in each category along with awards for all participants. Register at the show information desk. A limited number of bundles are available.
Youth Barbed Wire Splicing: Youth up to age 16 are invited to participate in the Barbed Wire Splicing Competition. The Youth Division rules allow for the use of smooth non-barbed wire and a 10 pound weight.
