It all started over a cup of coffee...

Over 30 years ago, while sitting down over a cup of coffee, Ron Renz, the local barber, and Ron Surface, a local businessman came up with an idea that would grow into one of the largest St. Patrick's celebrations in the area. On a Friday night in March 1990, the night before St. Patrick's Day, the two decided to have a parade. After a few phone calls they had stirred up enough interest to have a parade. That first parade had almost no spectators because “they were all in the parade.” These men probably never imagined what they had started. Today, Rush Center's population explodes when as many as two thousand people come enjoy this Irish Celebration – Kansas style.
